Spearman ISD is in search of a Band Director for the 2025-2026 school year. The position will pay an additional $3,000 for Master degree and $400 per month towards applicants health insurance. The position is an 11 month position and includes a Band Director stipend.
Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the instrumental music and band program. Provide students with appropriate learning activitities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth and provide an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band.
Campus Description:
Spearman ISD is a class 2A school district with approximately 190 students on their high school campus. Program includes: one Asst. Band Director and new junior high band facilities and active parents and students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with Instrumental Emphasis
Demonstrated competency in instrumental music
Valid Texas Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
Ability and patience to work interactively with students
Skill in organization, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to deliver teaching instruction in accordance with improved curriculum and standards
Excellent skills in verbal and written communication
Ability to understand the individual needs of each student
Experience:
At least 1 year experience preferred
Responsibities & Duties:
- Direct instrumental performers, including marching band, concert band, soloists and ensembles
- Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirments and verify each student's eligibility to participate in band
- Provide for band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, and UIL
- Support band booster club activities
- Develop and implement a program of instruction: includes planning and directing experiences in large performing groups, technical instruction, listening and music theory
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
- Maintains the highest possible standards for the instrumental music program
- Observes, enforces and is directed by the policies, rules and regulations adopted by the district
- Develop and administer budget based on documented program needs and ensure the operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely
