Gus Birdwell Elementary is accepting applications for a campus secretary for the 2025-2026 school year.
Primary Purpose:
Ensure efficient operation of school administrative office and provide clerical services for school's administrative staff. Responsible for maintaining student academic records at the campus level. Process student enrollment, transfers, and withdrawals for the campus.
Employee Benefits:
The District contributes $400 per month towards applicants health insurance. Applicant must undergo a FBI Fingerprint and criminal history check before they can begin employment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High school diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills
Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, database and word processing
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Knowledge of basic accounting principles
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to perform a variety of tasks
Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual Preferred
Experience
2 years secretarial experience
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare campus communications, correspondence, forms, manuals, reports, purchase orders, and payment authorizations following district standards and requirements
2. Process new student records, including requesting records from other schools.
3. Assist with enrollment, withdrawals, and transfer of students
4. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents as required. Maintain student records according to procedures
5. Receive incoming calls, take messages, and route to appropriate staff
6. Assist students, teachers, parents and public as needed
7. Assist campus administration with preparation of reports and student data information
8. Sort, distribute and deliver mail and other documents
9. Administer medication to students, check temp, and notify parents of student illness
10. Maintain confidentiality
