Spearman High School is in search of an Ag Science teacher to add to a growing and successful AG department and FFA program for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.  This is a 12 month position.  The position will pay an additional $3,000 for Master degree and will include an Ag stipend.  District pays $400 per month towards applicants health insurance.

 

Campus Description:

Spearman High School is a class 2A school district with approximately 190 students on the campus (Grades 9-12)

 

Primary Purpose:

 

Direct and manage the agricultural science program.  Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.  Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

Qualifications:

     Education/Certification:

          Bachelor's Degree;

          Valid Texas Teacher Certification;

          Demonstrated competency in agricultural science

     Special Knowledge/Skills:

          Knowledge of agricultural science and technology

          Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

          Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior

          Ability to supervise agricultural field experiences

          Ability to manage budget

          Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

      Experience:

          Secondary teaching experience, preferred; or

          One year student teaching

 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Oversee Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP), including assisting students in selecting and managing projects and supervising school farm
  • Serve as advisor to local FFA chapter, including planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, cooperative, career development and competitive activities for students at local, regional and state level.
  • Develop and administer budget based on program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely
  • Coordinate fundraising activities and manage funds
  • Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets related to the program
  • Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other required documents
